    Injury claim in Cambuslang

If you have a need to raise an injury claim in Cambuslang, you should think about using the no-win, no-fee* personal injury claim process that we offer at Accident Advice Helpline. It doesn’t matter what type of injury you’ve sustained, or how it came about. The only proviso is that the blame must lie with someone other than yourself.

    Accidents happen anywhere, anytime

You never know when you might have an accident that causes a personal injury and result in you needing to make an injury claim in Cambuslang. For example, innocent passers-by could easily have been seriously injured when a scaffolding tower fell over in Streatham High Street.

Scaffolding tower erected to facilitate cleaning process

The scaffolding tower had been erected to facilitate the cleaning of a building facing the high street. The cleaning process consisted of shot blasting, steam, and jet washing. To protect members of the public, polyethene sheeting was attached to the scaffolding to prevent debris falling onto passers-by, and passing traffic.

Scaffolding tower not secured to the building

Unfortunately, the scaffold structure hadn’t been attached to the building, and the plastic sheeting acted like a sail when the wind got up. The result is that the unsecured scaffold tower fell onto the pavement, and into the street. Miraculously no one was injured. Luckily the fall didn’t happen during the day, but it could easily have been another story, and one with disastrous consequences.

Basic omission in health and safety procedure

The investigation that followed carried out by the HSE (Health and Safety Executive), found that the scaffold erection didn’t meet minimum safety standards. The dangers associated with scaffolding are well understood throughout the industry, and not securing the structure properly was an elementary error.

The scaffolding company responsible was found to be in breach of both the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. They were fined £5,000 and instructed to pay £500 worth of costs.
