    Injury claim in Great Langdale

Well known to hikers, fell-runners, climbers and other outdoor enthusiasts, Great Langdale is a valley in the Lake District National Park within walking distance of Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain. A great deal of activities take place in the area each year, especially in the summer months, and serious accidents are thankfully rare. However, if you are looking to make an injury claim in Great Langdale after suffering an injury of some kind that was not your fault, Accident Advice Helpline may be able to help you.

How outdoor activities lead to injuries

Many people visiting Great Langdale and the rest of the Lake District National Park do so under their own steam and take responsibility for their own actions. However, there are a number of activities which can be enjoyed as part of a group such as rock climbing, abseiling and guided hiking. It is in situations like this where whoever is leading the activity needs to make sure that every precaution is taken to keep everyone safe. Failure to do so can lead to an injury claim in Great Langdale by one of the participants.

Needless to say, when enjoying an activity such as abseiling or rock climbing, it is vitally important that the leader of the activity is fully trained and has a suitable number of staff to make sure the entire group is kept safe. Equipment such as ropes, buckles and harnesses must be well maintained and suitable for the job, as a failure to do so could lead to a fall and serious injuries. Falling while abseiling or rock climbing could lead to head injuries, especially if suitable helmets are not provided, and also injuries such as dislocated shoulders, broken arms and legs.

Likewise, anyone leading a guided hike must have taken every precaution to make sure everyone gets to the end safe and sound. Hiking in unsuitable weather in winter, for example, without taking proper precautions can lead to hypothermia, as well as dangerous slips and falls on icy or rocky surfaces.
