Have you been injured in a car accident? Was the accident close to where you live in East Dunbartonshire? Was another person to blame for the accident? Did you receive medical treatment for your injuries as soon as was possible after the accident? If you were injured in a car accident in East Dunbartonshire and were an innocent victim, you may be able to claim personal injury compensation.
Even if you haven’t been badly injured in an accident, this doesn’t mean that the people that you were with won’t have been. Accidents can affect different people in different ways, and where your car was hit, whether a passenger was wearing a seatbelt or not, and even your passengers’ heights and weights can affect their injuries
Were other people injured in a car accident in East Dunbartonshire?
If you don’t think that you are badly hurt, you can use the time that you are waiting for the emergency services to check over your passengers and ensure that everyone is safe and able to hang on until the ambulance gets there, or provide first aid if you do think that someone needs help.
- Ask them how they are. If the accident was relatively minor then everyone should be awake and able to tell you how they are feeling and what they need in the way of help. Just ask what has happened and if anyone needs medical attention to gauge how your passengers have come out of this.
- Look them over. If the accident was more serious and you can’t talk to them about their injuries, look them over (without touching them) to see what you can see. You are looking for obvious wounds or bleeding, or the body being twisted into an unusual position.
- Don’t move them. If you think that they may have suffered a head or spinal injury, or possibly have broken a bone, the best thing you can do is to make them comfortable without moving them, and ensure that they don’t move of their own accord. If you do allow them to move then they could be more seriously injured, which isn’t safe.
- Check their responsiveness. A person may be talking and have their eyes open but be suffering from an unseen head injury, and if you ask questions you can gauge how badly they have been hurt and if they require immediate attention.
