The law states that if you are injured or fall ill and somebody else was to blame then you are entitled to seek compensation for the physical, emotional and financial hardships that you have endured. This right to compensation is in place to help hold the guilty party for an injury or illness to account, to provide some recompense for the physical and emotional suffering of the victim and to offer the financial means by which this victim can deal with the financial implications of their ailment. This article will now run through all the salient details of the compensation claims process, including how long you have to claim, who can help you to claim and how you can contact them.
How long do you have to claim?
In the majority of personal injury compensation cases you have a period of three years from the incident in question in which to begin claim proceedings and after this time has passed your entitlement to claim has lapsed. There are two main exceptions to this rule however, and these are claims which deal with an injury to a minor and claims which regard industrial diseases such as asbestos poisoning.
