You may be able to make holiday compensation claims in Manchester if you sustained an injury in an accident that was not your fault while on holiday. You could also make holiday compensation claims in Manchester if you had an illness while on holiday that was caused as a result of another person’s negligence; the most obvious illness of this sort is food poisoning caused by the negligence of the catering staff in the establishment you ate at.
You can claim for injuries or illnesses that occurred while on holiday in the UK,or abroad, in a hotel, or on a cruise ship or even on a plane.
Food poisoning holiday compensation claims in Manchester
You may be interested to discover that claims for food poisoning at hotels have, in the past, been settled for between £600 and £33,500. There are varying degrees of the symptoms of food poisoning and so there are different levels of compensation awards.
- For severe cases of food poisoning which necessitate a stay in hospital and cause vomiting, severe pain and fever and diarrhoea, perhaps with continuing incontinence and irritable bowel syndrome which negatively affects one’s quality of life, the range of possible compensation is between £24,500 and £333,500.
- For serious (but not severe) short-lived food poisoning, with symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting becoming less frequent over 2-4 weeks, although there may be some residual discomfort and problems with bowel functions and there may also be a negative impact on one’s sex life and enjoyment of food over a few years, the possible range of compensation would be between £6,150 and £12,250.
- For milder food poisoning which necessitated a few days stay in hospital with symptoms lasting for a few weeks (discomfort, stomach cramps, a change in bowel movements and so on), but with a complete recovery after a period of two years, compensation could be between £2,500 and £6,150.
- For mild food poisoning which required medical treatment for pain, stomach cramps and diarrhoea which lasted for some days or weeks, the range of compensation would be between £600 and £2,500.
However these sums are guidelines only. They are amounts for the pain, suffering and loss of amenity suffered only. For example they do not take into consideration compensation for a holiday which was ruined because of the illness, or loss of earnings which may have been incurred as a result of the illness.
