    Hand arm vibration syndrome

Can I claim compensation for Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome?

Yes, you can.  If you’re suffering from Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome, you are probably experiencing loss of blood flow to your fingers, difficulty gripping things or holding small objects and pain whenever your hands are cold.

We understand just how much impact Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome can have on your life.  Even the small things like running your hands under a cold tap or taking food out of the freezer can cause acute pain.  You may find you have to wear gloves in the summer and that you no longer enjoy the work and hobbies that you used to because of your loss of fine motor function.

So how do I make a claim?

You employer is obliged by law to look after your Health and Safety while you are at work.  This includes making sure that your equipment doesn’t injure you.  There are a whole list of things that the Health and Safety Executive expects your employer to do to ensure that you don’t develop Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome, such as:

    • Train you on exactly how to use your equipment
    • Explain to you the risks of not using your equipment properly
    • Make sure that you take frequent and regular breaks from using tools
    • Ensure that your equipment is well maintained and is fitted with vibration reduction measures
    • Monitor how much time you spend using your equipment

If you feel that your employer has not fulfilled their duty on all of these points, you should call us.  Our legal partners can help determine whether your employer has been negligent and should therefore pay you compensation for your injury.

So I just call you?  What happens then?

Yes, just give us a call on our 24 hour helpline.  We will offer you free advice and discuss your options with you.  If you decide to make a claim, we can help you through the whole process.  We allocate your case to one of our partner solicitors who has specialist experience of industrial injury cases like yours.  Your solicitor will put your case together and discuss the details of your options with you, such as your compensation amount.  Your solicitor may ask you to attend a medical assessment to help with assessing the extent of your injury and compensation owed to you.  Then your solicitor will put your case forward, taking you through each step of the process in a stress free way.

All of our solicitors work on a no win no fee* basis, so there is no financial impact to worry about and no risk to you at any stage.  Any fee will only be met once the compensation award is made and is.  Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome is a life changing condition – make sure you receive the compensation you need so as you can get the help you deserve.
