Claims for compensation for an injury from an accident caused by a doorstep trader can be made by contacting the Halton accident claims helpline

The local district of Halton is situated in the north-west of England and the local council in Halton has recently initiated a campaign to prevent and improve awareness of doorstep crime. The campaign is called ‘Good Neighbours Stop Rogue Traders’ and it is running as part of National Consumer Week. The campaign has been launched this week and it is aimed at encouraging people to be on the look out for dodgy traders that target friends, carers, family and neighbours.

The executive member for Trading Standards at the Halton Council, Councillor Dave Cargill, has said that the council’s trading standards officers are constantly working to find and prosecute doorstep traders acting illegally. However, Cargill has said that the local community is needed to act as the ears and eyes of the Trading Standards to help work out where the doorstep traders are operating.

Trading Standards has said that a doorstep trader that is unwanted and could potentially be acting illegally can be identified by signs including a neighbour looking distressed after being visited by a doorstep trader or a resident visiting the bank more often with a doorstep trader. Doorstep traders who engage in building works and are possibly acting illegally can have builder’s vans that have no contact details on them or an easily removed magnetic sign.

The Halton Council has suggested that any residents that are worried about a neighbour or someone they know of being a victim of an illegal doorstep trader can call the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline. They can also call the Halton Police’s non-emergency phone number if it is suspected that a trading crime has been committed or a situation becomes heated. Any paperwork or flyers should be held on to and their vehicle registration number should be copied down.

If you suffer an injury from an accident caused by a doorstep trader then contact Accident Advice Helpline on their Halton accident claims helpline.
