    How to get compensation

    We have all heard of compensation, and some of us know exactly what it is, but surprisingly few people know exactly when and how to claim compensation. The top five facts on how to get compensation are listed here to help you.

    Top five facts on when and how to get compensation

    Fact 1: You can claim compensation if you have suffered an injury in an accident or incident that was someone else’s fault. Accidents and incidents can include any of the following:

    • Car accidents;
    • Bike accidents;
    • Train accidents;
    • Boat accidents;
    • Accidents at work;
    • Slips, trips and falls in public places;
    • Criminal injuries; and
    • Medical negligence.

    Fact 2: Most accidents are someone’s fault. At first, most accidents seem to be just that – an accident. However, when the circumstances are analysed carefully by an expert, it turns out that in fact someone was to blame. If you have been involved in an accident that seems to be no one’s fault, it is always worth giving Accident Advice Helpline a call.

    We are compensation providers with huge experience and expertise in personal injury claims for compensation. Tell us the circumstances of the accident and let us take it from there. If it transpires that someone was to blame, you may be able to get compensation

    Fact 3: You get compensation for money that you have lost, as well as for the injury itself. You don’t just get compensation for the pain and suffering of the injury. It is also likely that you will have had to spend money on travelling, car parking, childcare, household help or personal care because of your injury. Keep a careful record of this so that you can report it to the personal injury lawyer who is handling your case. You will be allocated a lawyer who is most suitable for your case by Accident Advice Helpline.

    Fact 4: You don’t have to go to court to get compensation. In fact, a very small proportion of personal injury cases end up in court. It is much more likely that your claim will be handled over the telephone. You will have to attend one medical assessment. This is so that a medical report can be prepared about your injuries. This will probably involve one local appointment with a doctor.

    Fact 5: You will not know the amount of compensation until your case is resolved. It is possible to make an estimate of how much compensation you may get — compensation calculators can do this. However, it is only as estimate. All cases and claims are different, and until all the circumstances of the accident and all the details of the injury are known and the legal process has run its course, the exact amount cannot be guaranteed. Some claims take much longer than others to resolve, because every claim is unique.
