"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

    Football injuries

Possibly no compensation for football injuries

Injuries sustained while playing a sport, and football injuries are no exception, do not normally warrant compensation. This is because the person playing in a sport accepts just by taking part, that there is the possibility of being injured in play.

So a bad tackle by another player that breaks your leg, or a punch in a boxing match that damages your eye, does not make you eligible to claim compensation.

If however, some sporting equipment you are training with is faulty and you are injured, that is a different matter. If you are a spectator at a sporting event and injured through no fault of your own, you might be able to claim. If you work at a sporting venue, in any capacity, and are injured through the negligence of your employer, you could possibly claim compensation from them.

It is only the players that are far less likely to be able to make a claim, if their injuries are sustain while playing the game.

Making a claim if you are eligible

You can make a claim if:
