Find a law firm in Breckland

Claiming compensation isn’t something a lot of us do on an every-day basis. As such, there are a number of myths and misconceptions that arise when it comes to accidents, injuries and compensation in the United Kingdom. But don’t worry – at Accident Advice Helpline, we want to make sure you have the most up-to-date, accurate and useful information. We can also help you if you need to find a law firm in Breckland.

Myth: Only dangerous industries like engineering or manufacturing have accidents.

False! Accidents can happen anywhere, at any time, in any industry. While it is true that some industries may be more likely to have serious or fatal accidents, there are all sorts of different accidents that can happen anywhere – accidents on the road, slips, trips and falls, heavy lifting accidents, food poisoning, industrial diseases and so on.

Myth: If an accident happens to me, I must be at fault for it.

Also false! Although you may have been involved in an accident, that does not mean that you necessarily were responsible for it. Sometimes, we take responsibility for accidents occurring that are really due to someone else’s oversight or negligence. For example, if a spillage occurs in the workplace and it is ignored until you slip and fall, this does not mean you were necessarily responsible for the accident – it could mean your employer was, as they did not take adequate action to ensure the accident did not take place! The best way to find out who might be responsible for a given accident is to get in touch.

Myth: I can apply for compensation whenever I like.

False again! In most cases, you only have up to three years from the date of your accident to make a claim for compensation. However, exceptions to this rule do exist. For example, in cases of industrial disease, you actually have three years from the date of your medical diagnosis with the disease to claim compensation. As such, it’s a good idea to check with Accident Advice Helpline before starting a no win no fee* accident claim to see when you should begin your claim.

Myth: If I need to find a law firm in Breckland, I need to choose a solicitor from Breckland.

False! Some law firms, such as Accident Advice Helpline, operate on a nationwide basis, meaning that if you pursue a claim with Accident Advice Helpline, you have access to the best legal talent all across the United Kingdom and not just the solicitors who happen to live or work in the area. This also means that no matter where you live in the United Kingdom, you’re able to pursue a claim with Accident Advice Helpline.
