Ridgeway is a district of the area known as North East Derbyshire, within the wider ceremonial county of Derbyshire, in the north of England.
Whilst officially in Derbyshire, the district is in fact right on the county’s border with South Yorkshire and as such is only around five miles from Sheffield city centre.
The History Of Ridgeway
The village of Ridgeway is believed to have first come to be around 700 years ago, but originally consisted of three smaller settlements known as Sloadlane, Ridgeway and Ridgeway Moor. There are today also a number of other settlements which, whilst still technically separate entities, form a contiguous urban area with Ridgeway and these include Birley Hey, Ford and Highlane.
The initial industry which was most associated with the village of Ridgeway was the Scythe manufacturing industry, but this has rather unsurprisingly declined to the point that the only remaining reminders of the industry are some flats located in a converted factory location. It is largely due to the fact that there has not been a thriving and sustainable industry in the village that Ridgeway has not grown to be more than a small village.
As we have touched upon above, Ridgeway is not a major population centre but it does have a number of features and amenities such as four public houses (The Bridge Inn, The Swan, The Queen’s Head and The Phoenix Inn), football, cricket and other sports facilities, a craft centre and a Michelin starred restaurant called the Old Vicarage.
Residents of the small Derbyshire village are lucky to have access to such impressive facilities in their local area, therefore, and they are also fortunate that for expert solicitors Ridgeway is not a common source of compensation claims.
Expert Solicitors Ridgeway
Being a village with a smaller level of population means that there are generally fewer accidents and injuries and it is this which explains why it is the case that for expert solicitors Ridgeway is not a particularly likely location for claims.
This does not mean that no accidents can occur however, and if you are injured in an accident which was somebody else’s fault then you may be able to claim compensation with the help of expert solicitors in Ridgeway via Accident Advice Helpline.
