Getting an expert solicitor in Fernhurst to help you with a claim for compensation for an E.coli O157 infection does not have to be hard or stressful. All you have to do is make one phone call to Accident Advice Helpline – explain that you think that you have been infected because of something that someone else did or did not do. This means that someone else was at fault for your illness. The expert personal injury solicitors will take it from there – you can relax and concentrate on getting better.
Symptoms of E.coli O157
E.coli O157 is a very unpleasant illness indeed. Typically your symptoms will start with a sudden onset of severe abdominal pain (cramps) and diarrhoea. Some people also get vomiting at this time and a small number will feel feverish. You are likely to have these symptoms for about a week – which is a long time to be in such pain and discomfort.
For around half of the people infected with E.coli O157, their illness will not be as straightforward as this. The symptoms start in exactly the same way as above but on the second or third day of illness, blood will occur in the diarrhoea. This is extremely upsetting and distressing for the ill person and it is often at this stage that they consult a doctor or get taken to hospital.
Around one in ten people will develop an even more serious condition called haemolytic uraemic syndrome – this is a rare form of anaemia which causes kidney failure. Unfortunately, for many people, the kidney failure is permanent and some people also die of this condition. Many of the high profile outbreaks of E.coli O157 have reported one or more deaths from this nasty complication.
How will my expert solicitor in Fernhurst show who was to blame?
This is a very complicated legal procedure. Your personal injury solicitor may have to refer to guidance notes or Codes of Practice that should have been followed but were not. Witness statements, photographs and laboratory reports may also be used. If you contracted the disease by eating contaminated food or drink then you may be making a claim against the retailer or caterer that supplied you with the food or drink. If you became ill after a farm visit then your personal injury solicitor could start a claim on your behalf against the operators of the farm.
On the other hand, if you are an employee and have become ill because you have been exposed to E.coli O157 at work then your solicitor in may start a claim against your employer for failing to safeguard your health, safety or welfare whilst you were at work.
