Torksey is a village in the West Lindsey region of the county of Lincolnshire, which is situated on the A156, approximately seven miles south of Gainsborough and nine miles north west of the city of Lincoln. The village sits on the banks of the River Trent and is host to the ruins of the historic Torksey Castle which are now unfortunately at risk of erosion by the nearby river. Another famous landmark of the area is the impressive Torksey Viaduct which spans the River Trent having been built between 1847 and 1849 to carry the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway. The viaduct is now no longer in use but the continued significance of the structure is demonstrated by the fact that it has achieved grade II listed status.

Despite playing host to these two historic and famous landmarks, in population terms the village is relatively insignificant with the 2001 census data recording that Torksey had a population of just 551 people.

When and why can you claim?

The law states that if you are injured or fall ill and somebody else was demonstrably to blame then you are entitled to seek personal injury compensation as recompense for the physical, emotional and financial pain that you have suffered.

How long do you have to claim?

In the majority of cases you must begin claims proceedings within three years of the incident in question or else you lose your ability to claim.
