    Enfield Car Accident Claim

    Enfield Car Accident Claim

Have you ever wondered what happens if you make an Enfield car accident claim against another driver and it turns out they are not insured?

It is usually insurance that settles an Enfield car accident claim

When you pay the premiums for your motor insurance, part of it is third party cover, in case you cause an accident and have an car accident claim made against you. Insurance companies exist to provide cover for whatever you purchase from them, and the compensation they pay out has been paid for every time you pay them.

In spite of all the bad press they give personal injury claims, just think how many insurance policies there are that are never claimed against – why do you think the big insurers make millions of pounds in profit every year?

But what happens if it turns out the driver who caused the accident you were in was not insured for some reason? This could be a hit and run accident, where the driver does not stop to give you their details, the other car could be stolen, or the other driver’s insurance could be invalid for some reason.

In this situation, the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) are there to help.

How the MIB can help with an Enfield car accident claim

Any insurance company who sells motor insurance has to be a member of the MIB. Each year they have to pay a levy based on the turnover of their motor insurance business, which is used by the MIB to pay compensation claims. This is to ensure that no innocent victim loses out on their entitlement to compensation because of a lack of insurance.

The insurers all give details of every vehicle they insure to the MIB, which has a master database holding the details of every insured vehicle in the UK. This database is not only useful to them, but has provided vital information to the police to help them with their investigations into some crimes.

Quite rightly, the scheme under which they settle compensation claims is complex, to make sure that only genuine claims are paid.
