    You may be entitled to Employee Compensation if: You have an accident at work

    If you have an accident at work you may be entitled to employee compensation from your employers insurance company, with whom they have employers liability insurance, it doesn’t normally cost your actual employer anything.

    The accident can be caused by any number of things, tripping over something, defective equipment or machinery, a work colleague doing something wrong, the causes are endless.  Unfortunately so are the injuries, from minor cuts and bruises to major disabling injuries, whichever your injury may be, you could be entitled to claim employee compensation.

    Longer Term Effects of an Employment

    It is not only accidents at work that can cause you problems.  There can be things that cause you much longer bad effects that can take years to develop.  If the cause has been in a particular employment then you may be entitled to employee compensation.  Some causes of such cases are as follows:

    • constant twisting of your wrist that might cause repetitive strain injury
    • a workstation that is too small for the work you have to do, meaning you are not to be able to sit properly, which might cause back damage
    • the constant vibration of a piece of machinery may cause vibration white finger (where vibration is concerned the employer should carry out a risk assessment and adjust the amount of time spent on machinery if the assessment says it is necessary)
    • constant exposure to certain dusts or chemicals that in small amounts will not affect you, but long term can cause un-repairable damage to your health.

    You may even be entitled to employee compensation if you have a pre existing condition that is made worse by your employment, it does not have to be a new illness or problem.
