Accidents at Work
If you have had an accident at work in the last three years, an accident that was not your fault, an accident which has caused you injury and loss of earnings, you may be eligible for an Accident Claim for Compensation. Your employer will probably have Employers Liability Insurance, so you will not be claiming off them directly, but from the insurance company that provides their cover.
Edinburgh Accident Claim – Road Traffic Accident
If you have been involved in a road traffic accident in the last three years, no matter what type of vehicles were involved, or whether you were the driver, a passenger or a pedestrian and you have sustained injuries, you may be entitled to make an Edinburgh Accident Claim for Compensation. There are several things you can claim for including:
- Personal injury
- Trauma, stress and anxiety
- Loss of Earnings
- Disruption of business compensation
- Out of pocket expenses
Normally where a road traffic accident is concerned, your compensation would be claimed from an insurance company or local authority, if a defective road caused the accident. Sometimes the claim can be against a manufacturer if something on the vehicle malfunctions and causes the accident. If the other driver was uninsured or untraceable then the claim has to be referred to the Motor Insurers Bureau (MIB).
If you have been the blameless victim of a crime that has resulted in you being injured within the last two years, you may be entitled to criminal injuries compensation. To be eligible you must:
- Have reported the crime to the police as soon as possible after it happened
- Co-operated with the police to give them every possible chance of apprehending the criminal
- Be a British Citizen or a national from another European country and you have a right to be in the UK
- Be a serving member of HM Forces
Criminal injuries compensation is claimed from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA), who will apply other criteria in some cases and they also have the power to extend the time limit in exceptional circumstances.
