"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

East Hertfordshire no win no fee accident

Many people every year suffer serious injuries when they fall off roof tops. Some die from their injuries. If you’ve had a fall from a height at work in East Hertfordshire and you’ve been seriously hurt through no fault of your own, you might like to consider using the online services of Accident Advice Helpline to launch a compensation claim.

People who work at height must have relevant experience

Working at height should only be done by workers with plenty of relevant experience. If a non-experienced person is involved, (say for training purposes for example), they must be accompanied by someone with appropriate expertise. Unfortunately this was not the case when an 18 year-old worker fell 3 metres through a barn roof in Perthshire.

Simple precautions could have prevented the accident

During the investigation carried out afterwards by the HSE (Health and Safety Executive), it was found that no instructions had been given to the workers, and they were unsupervised. Neither of the two men involved, (the 18-year-old who fell through the roof, or the young man driving the telehandler) had any previous experience of working at height or on fragile roofs. Simple precautions such as the use of crawler boards or a mobile work platform, could have easily prevented the accident.

The owners of the farm pleaded guilty to a breach of Regulation 4 of the Work at Height Regulations 2005. They were fined £12,000.
