Ealing No Win No Fee Accident

Fall from height incidents cause serious injuries. But it doesn’t have to be a fall from a really high workplace; a 1.5M tall stepladder can cause serious injuries too. If you’ve had a serious fall from height accident at work, and as a result you’ve sustained a significant injury, you can employ the online services of us here at Accident Advice Helpline to help you with launching an Ealing no win no fee accident injury claim. After all, our services come highly recommended by the former TV presenter and famous people’s consumer champion, Esther Rantzen.

The problem of brittle roof lights

A 29-year-old roofing worker sustained serious injuries when he fell 3 metres through a fragile roof light. Roof-lights are a constant cause of fall from height injuries. They are usually constructed from transparent plastic, which may be quite robust when it’s first installed, but with continual exposure to ultraviolet from the sun, it can turn quite brittle over the years, which perhaps explains what happened to the 29-year-old worker. The injury victim suffered two broken vertebrae and significant contusions. He is thankfully expected to make a full recovery.

    Risk assessments recommendations not implemented

Although a risk assessment had been carried out, and this suggested that the skylights were protected by barriers, this precaution was never put in place, and the roofing worker was never made aware. The roof-lights had labels attached to them warning of their fragility, but they too have come suffused with ultraviolet, and over the years had faded as a result.

    Construction company fined £6,000

The construction company responsible pleaded guilty at the hearing in terms of breaching Regulation 9(2)(a) of the Work at Height Regulations 2005. They were fined the sum of £6,000 and instructed to pay a further £690 costs.
