    Driving accident in the UK

Have you had a driving accident in the UK?

Around the world, well over one million people die in road accidents every year, and injuries total more than fifty million which is a truly phenomenal figure. It’s a fact that some countries have terrible accident statistics. Russia, for example has 235 deaths for every million inhabitants. While the UK has a largely efficient and safe road and transport safety system it still has a high rate of car accidents than can be seen in most other European countries with more accidents per head of population than many places. One reason for this may simply be that British drivers spend more time behind the wheel than other European drivers, spending 8.5 hours on average driving compared to 7.5 hours elsewhere in Europe. If you’ve had a driving accident in the UK that wasn’t your fault you might be entitled to compensation.

There are approximately 40,000 serious car accidents annually in the UK and around 3500 people are killed per year in these accidents. The good news is that since 1998 the UK has been targeting a reduction in the number of accidents and casualties in any road accident in the UK and this appears to be working, albeit it is work in progress!
