You may be worried about the cost of personal injury solicitors in North Lincolnshire, but there are other things that you need to think about before you can even begin your claim. We explore the eligibility criteria necessary to make a compensation claim, as well as how you can get started on your claim below. Keep reading for more information about getting in touch with Accident Advice Helpline at the bottom of the page.

Getting started with a compensation claim

In order to be eligible to make a claim for compensation, you must meet the following requirements:

The accident must have taken place within the last three years

You may not have realised that you have up to three years to make a claim for compensation following an accident. Unlike insurance claims or police reports, you have longer in which to make your claim. If the accident involved a minor or an industrial disease, you may find that you have even longer to make a claim.

The accident must have led to your injuries

In order to claim compensation, you must be able to prove that your injuries were caused by the accident. This means that you will need medical proof from a doctor as evidence that your accident led to these injuries. This is why it’s important to seek medical treatment immediately after an accident in order not to miss anything.

The accident must not have been your fault

To be eligible to claim compensation, you must be able to prove that the accident was not your fault. Whether it was caused by another driver, a negligent employer or the council’s failure to maintain a public pathway or walkway, you will only be entitled to compensation if the accident was caused by someone else.
