Accidents in hospitals
Every year, countless individuals are injured whilst in hospital, which is ironic to say the least given that hospitals are supposed to be havens for the sick and weary.
Unfortunately due to shortages of staff and often budget constraints, hospitals are becoming busier and more hectic, and in some cases less organised. This lack of organisation can lead to mistakes being made, or simply tasks not being performed efficiently in the first place.
If you have experienced this and have been involved in an accident or incident as a result then contact Accident Advice Helpline today to see if our Corby accident claim solicitors can help you make a claim for compensation.
Our Corby accident claim solicitors recently helped one client, Mavis, after she broke her hip in hospital. It was actually Mavis’ grandson that contacted us to initiate a claim on behalf of his grandmother. He tells us her story:
“Gran had to go into hospital because she had a stomach bug which was causing her to become dehydrated. Although obviously a concern it was nothing major, and we were told she would be able to come home in a couple of days once she had her strength back. One night the nursing staff forgot to put the rails up on Gran’s hospital bed and she fell out. The bed was quite high at the time, and obviously she landed on the cold, hard floor. This is how she broke her hip.”
John, the grandson told our Corby accident claim solicitors that the nursing staff had been made aware that Mavis would need the rails up when she slept as she could get confused about where she was, and there were concerns about her wondering the halls and perhaps injuring herself. John believed that by failing to perform this duty as directed had put his grandmother in harms way, and ultimately caused her injury.
This is why he contacted Accident Advice Helpline and advised our Corby accident claim solicitors to take on their case.
Our Corby accident claim solicitors
Our Corby accident claim solicitors were able to look at the facts of the case and establish that there had been a breach in the duty of care offered by the hospital. Their actions had put Mavis directly in harms way, and could so easily have been avoided.
We were able to secure compensation for Mavis, not just for the pain and suffering she endured as a result of her injury, but to recompense her for the private medical treatment she underwent to have her hip replaced, and then receive physiotherapy.
