Henry is an architect, and he lives and works in Rugby. He contacted Accident Advice Helpline about compensation in Rugby after he was working on a building site one day and a stack of bricks, which hadn’t been properly secured, fell on him.
“I had taken care to take all the appropriate precautions”, says Henry. “I was wearing a helmet, safety boots and a fluorescent vest. However, when the bricks fell, they knocked me over and fell right across my body, causing a punctured lung and other problems.”
Henry was taken in an ambulance straight to hospital. Staff inserted a chest drain to help repair his punctured lung, and gradually the bruising he’d suffered healed, and headaches stopped.
“I had to keep the drain in for a few weeks and I found it difficult to breathe during that time. I’m glad it did heal on its own though, as the doctors were considering surgery if it wasn’t fixed soon. After that it took me several months to recover. The whole thing was very serious.”
We make it easy to claim compensation in Rugby
When Henry called us about compensation in Rugby, we asked him if the accident had been his fault, if he had received medical attention for it, and if it was within three years. Because he answered yes to all these questions, our adviser went ahead and took some more details. We asked him things like the date of the accident, where it had happened, and who his GP was.
“The phone call only took about 20 minutes”, said Henry. “The adviser was very friendly and helpful, and told me they’d call me back next week once their panel had discussed my case. She did as she said and it wasn’t long before my case went ahead and not only did I win it, but I was pleased to hear that I had received maximum possible compensation.
“It was all done over the phone and I didn’t have to go to any meetings or attend the court myself”.
