We all have slips, trips or falls occasionally, and sometimes we’re left injured as a result.
If this has happened to you within the past three years and your injury was caused by another person’s carelessness or negligence, you may be able to claim compensation. However, not everyone knows where they stand.
That’s where Accident Advice Helpline can help you. If you’ve sustained injuries locally, here’s a brief run-down of situations when you might be able to receive compensation for fall injuries in Herefordshire.
Employer’s liability insurance
For example, a person requires a ladder to do their job yet their company gives them the wrong type of ladder, resulting in them falling and breaking their knee. The injury was the company’s fault, and therefore the person should pursue compensation from them.
Public liability insurance
For example, if you walk into a bank and slip on a pool of water that doesn’t have a sign next to it warning you to watch your step, it was negligent of the bank to not erect a sign. Under these circumstances, you should pursue compensation.
Public liability insurance – local government
If your accident occurs on council-owned land, you may be able to claim against them if it was their negligence that caused it.
For example, if council workers don’t maintain a pathway correctly and you end up tripping on the raised ground as a result, you could pursue them for compensation as your injury was as a direct result of their negligence.
However, if a neighbour drops litter on that pathway and you slip on it, you cannot claim against the council as, in this case, they weren’t to blame.
