    Compensation facts in Walsall

If you’ve been injured in an accident that wasn’t your fault, then you may be thinking about making a claim. If so, everything you need to know about doing so can be found below.

Compensation facts in Walsall – what you need to know

Here are some compensation facts in Walsall, or for wherever else you may be.

How long do claims take to process?

We can process accident claims in as quickly as 6-8 weeks in cases which are straightforward (for example, if liability is easy to ascertain and is unchallenged by the other party). Generally speaking, from start to finish our clients receive a pay-out within 8 weeks and this will only be longer if the claim is more complicated.

How much could I be entitled to?

This is a very good question – how much you are entitled to will probably be the decision-making factor as to whether you make a claim. The easiest way to get an estimate of how much you could be entitled to is to fill in our 30-second test tool which you can find towards the top of this web page. This will only give you an estimate, however.

    How is compensation calculated?

Compensation is split into general damages and special damages. Special damages is the compensation awarded for financial loss as a result of an accident, while general damages is the compensation awarded for your injuries. The latter is calculated according to the extent of your injuries, your recovery period, and your prognosis for the future.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of no win, no fee?

The advantages of no win, no fee include no upfront legal costs to worry about and no costly bill for your own solicitor’s fees should your claim lose. And if your claim wins, your solicitor is paid out of your compensation, so you won’t feel a financial impact. The disadvantage of no win, no fee is that they do not traditionally protect the claimant from running up a bill of costs by the other side. So if your claim loses, you may still have fees. However, this risk is greatly reduced with specialist insurance that is usually built into an agreement.

Is making a claim right for me?

If you have been left financially worse off because of an accident that was not your fault, then we would say that you will benefit from making a claim. You could be owed thousands of pounds, and that money could be put towards paying for additional medical care or to simply support you and your family during your recovery period.
