The large village of Yelverton is situated at the south-western rim of Dartmoor in Devon, which is located in the southwest of England. Served by the Plym Valley Railway, Yelverton is a popular place of residence for commuters working in Plymouth and also draws an income from tourism. The nearest airport is at Plymouth.
The village boasts some splendid late Victorian and Edwardian villas, the Yelverton Golf Club and Moorlands Links Hotel as well as the Yelverton Bohemians Cricket Club. Until recently the Yelverton Paperweight Museum also provided touristic interest, but the building has now been put up for sale, leaving the fate of this interesting museum in the hands of the gods. The collection spans around 1,200 paperweights, including paperweights from France, Italy and China.
To the east of the village and golf course lies open moorland and it is the relative remoteness of the village that prompted the construction of the RAF Harrowbeer airfield here at Yelverton at the onset of WWII. The airfield served as a fighter station for the air defence of the Western Approaches and the original layout of the runways and landing strip can still be seen today.
Unfortunately, one aircraft hit the Yelverton Church tower, which has had a warning light ever since as a result. If you sat in a church contemplating life and all things spiritual and a light sports plane hit the church tower today, you would be able to claim compensation for any injuries you might suffer in the resulting collapse of the roof structure. Then, of course, there “was a war on” and nobody would have dreamt of asking for compensation for their injuries.
If you have suffered injuries in a non-fault accident in the past 3 years, talk to a compensation claim Yelverton law firm about making an injury claim.
