    Compensation Claim in Redcar

Do you need to make a compensation claim in Redcar ?

    We can help.

The traditional seaside resort of Redcar is a wonderful place to visit for all ages.  With its sandy beaches, shopping, restaurants, and historical past it appeals to many people. Redcar can also offer museums, cinema, amusements and a racecourse. In fact there is something for everyone.

In the 14th Century the town of Redcar came into existence as it became known for its fishing benefits and would trade with its neighbouring town Coatham.  From around the 19th Century Redcar started to become a desirable seaside town and after the opening of the railway in 1846 it began attracting visitors to its beaches and town.

Redcar, home to the world’s oldest lifeboat

Redcar is home to the oldest known surviving lifeboat in the world and predating the RNLI, the Zetland. The Zetland was built 1802 and it has been recorded that over 500 lives were saved until the Zetland last sailed in 1880. Built by lifeboat pioneer Henry Greathead, the Zetland arrived in Redcar in 1802. Originally named simply Lifeboat, she was renamed Zetland during her early career in honour of the lord of the local manor.

The Zetland’s first rescue was on the 3rd of December 1802, where the Zetland rescued 15 men in total. In almost 80 years’ service, only one crew member lost his life while serving aboard the Zetland. William Guy was swept overboard on Christmas Day 1836 while trying to throw a line to a coal brig that had been driven ashore.

After the Zetland was no longer in service the towns people of Redcar saved the Zetland from being destroyed, now in the RNLI museum on the promenade at Redcar and has become part of the heart of Redcar with its infamous stories of daring rescues and fearless crews.
