If you are an employer then you are likely to have an Accident Report Book at work. If you look through this (assuming you have any accidents recorded of course) then you will be able to see what some of the more common accidents in the workplace in North Lincolnshire are.
This can then give you an idea of what happens in the workplace to cause accidents, and more importantly what can be done to help prevent such accidents from occurring again.
Some common accidents in the workplace in North Lincolnshire
In our experience the most common accidents are ones that could very easily be avoided. If you are aware of what these accidents are, and what leads them to occur, there is every chance that you can take the necessary steps now to stop them from happening in your workplace. This means that your staff will not be injured, they will not have to take time off work (which you will no doubt have to pay them for) and you will not be faced with a court case demanding compensation!
So, how can you prevent an accident before it happens? Quite easily – be proactive. You should perform regular risk assessments within the workplace which are designed to highlight any risks that could be posed to members of staff or even visitors that might be on site.
You should look at each individual area within the building, from the car park and entranceways to the lobby, the work floor, the canteen and the bathrooms. Every area will have its own specific risks that should be highlighted so that action can be taken to deal with them.
For example, in the bathroom what will happen if the sink leaks? Water will pool on the floor and this can ultimately cause a slipping hazard. Will you make it clear who people should report such problems to? What will the process be for dealing with the problem? What if someone can’t fix it for two days? The floor will still be wet, the hazard will still be present – you need to make sure the area is cordoned off and signs are placed out.
