Sevenoaks is a town found in the far west of the ceremonial county of Kent, in the south east of England. The town is situated approximately 21 miles (33.7 km) south-east of Charing Cross, on a commuter mainline from the capital, which explains why Sevenoaks is commonly referred to as a commuter town.
The town’s name is thought to have been coined as far back as 800 AD, when a small chapel near seven oak trees on the Vine was called Seouenaca, and this moniker came to be applied to the wider settlement around it.
The History of Sevenoaks
In spite of the supposed long history of the name Sevenoaks, there is actually little in the way of surviving records of the town itself before the 13th century, when it was afforded market town status. This is a notable incident itself, as that market still persists weekly to this day. Sevenoaks is also the home to one of the oldest non-religious organisations in the country, in the shape of the prestigious Sevenoaks private school which was founded back in 1423.
In more recent years, Sevenoaks, along with a lot of the rest of West Kent, has developed to become an area of relative prosperity with a skilled workforce, high economic activity, and even higher house prices. These prices have a very real effect on both the number and the nature of people who live in the town.
The Demography of Sevenoaks
According to the most recent census, Sevenoaks has a permanent resident population of between 25,000 and 30,000 people, depending on whether you are referring to the exact boundaries of the town or to the wider urban area. What this means is that the town has grown rapidly in recent decades, which creates some issues that may not often be considered by residents. For instance, a larger population, regardless of how affluent the residents, inexorably increases the chances of accidents and injuries occurring, and this makes it worthwhile to discuss claims for accident compensation in Sevenoaks.
Claims for accident compensation in Sevenoaks
The first crucial issue to discuss when looking at personal injury claims, Sevenoaks-based or otherwise, is when the entitlement to claim actually exists. This is when an individual is injured as a result of an incident or accident which was demonstrably somebody else’s fault. If you’re a resident interested in claims for accident compensation in Sevenoaks, then the next thing to learn is who can help you to do so.
