    Claiming against an uninsured driver

Many people who have been injured in road traffic accidents that were not their own fault get very worried when they find out that the driver who caused the accident was uninsured. They worry that the process of claiming against an uninsured driver is very complicated, drawn out and fraught with difficulties. They do not realise that it can be made a lot easier when you enlist the services of a specialist law firm such as Accident Advice Helpline.

The method of claiming against an uninsured driver

The way in which we make a claim on your behalf is very similar to the way in which we would claim against an insurance company. The main difference is that an organisation called the Motor Insurer’s Bureau pay the claim. However, this is not something that you need to worry about because we will handle all of the legal technicalities for you. We will also deal with most of the paperwork so that you can relax and focus on your recovery.

We will still have to provide evidence that you were injured in the accident – this is why it is so important that you visit a medical professional soon after the accident. This could be the Accident and Emergency Department at the nearest hospital (in the case of serious injuries) or your GP (if you are not so severely injured).

We also need to show that you were not to blame for the accident. If you are in an accident with an uninsured driver you should always call the police. They will attend the scene of the accident and investigate who was to blame. We can use their report as part of your claim.

You usually only have three years to make a claim for a road traffic accident so you should get on with your personal injury claim as soon as possible.
