    Claiming after a Swale accident

    Claiming after a Swale accident

The local district of Swale is found in the county of Kent in England and it has been the site of a safety camera programme that has seen a decrease in the numbers of injuries, deaths and accidents at the sites where the safety cameras have been placed. However, accidents still happen, so if you want to know more about claiming after a Swale accident, the best thing to do is to contact us at Accident Advice Helpline.

Safety on the roads in Swale

There are 7 safety camera sites used in the programme and the numbers of casualties at these sites has had a fall of 81 per cent which indicates a decrease in 32 per cent compared to the three years between 2008 to 2010 before the safety cameras were installed.

The programme has been implemented by the Kent and Medway Safety Camera Partnership and the partnership is raising awareness of the positive effect the cameras have had on the numbers of accidents by placing information boards at the sites of the safety cameras.

A representative of the partnership, Katherine Barrett, has said that the information boards will illustrate the numbers of lives that have been saved and injuries that have been prevented at the safety camera sites. Each site will show how positive their impact has been and the site that has had the largest impact on casualties is at Chequers Road at Minster-on-Sea. At this site there were six deaths between the years 2008 to 2010 but in the three years since there have been no casualties.

Mrs Barrett, from the partnership, has stated that through the combination of driver education programmes, publicity campaigns, enforcement of speed limits and safety cameras, there has been a decrease in the numbers of crash fatalities all across the nation year after year. However, she added that in some areas there are drivers who do not follow the speed limits with casualty and injury rates remaining the same. She concluded by saying that the impact of the safety cameras will be monitored by the partnership and they will continue to research ways to reduce road fatalities and injuries.
