Accidents in public places
Did you know that if you have been involved in an accident that occurred in a public place you might be entitled to claim compensation?
The compensation you are awarded will be used to compensate you for any personal injuries you sustained during your accident and Accident Advice Helpline’s Cheltenham law firm can help you determine how much you could be entitled to receive.
The easiest way to find out how much you could claim for is by taking our 30 second test. By entering some basic information about your accident and the type of injury you have had we can tell you almost immediately how much compensation our Cheltenham law firm could claim on your behalf. Amounts will vary depending on a number of factors but your solicitor will be able to discuss this with you in more detail once your claim starts.
What to do if you have an accident in a public place
If you have had an accident in a public place the first thing you should do is inform whoever is in charge.
If the accident has occurred in a shop for example you will need to inform either a shop assistant or the manager directly. Request medical attention to make sure that any physical injuries have been looked at. If necessary you can seek further medical assistance by attending the local hospital or seeing your GP.
Before leaving the premises it is advisable to complete an Accident Report with the manager. This will require them to fill in the necessary paperwork in their Accident Report Book. Your Cheltenham law firm solicitor will be able to obtain a copy of this as your claim progresses as evidence of what occurred.
You should also attempt to take any contact details of anyone else involved, including any potential witnesses. Any photographs you can take of the scene of your accident would also be helpful, and can be used by our Cheltenham law firm as further evidence of what occurred.
Once you have sought medical attention and have received the necessary treatment required to help you get better, your solicitor from our Cheltenham law firm will need you to grant them access to your medical records. This can be done by simply filling in a form which we will send directly to you. Your solicitor will then forward this on to the third party, and a medical expert who will independently assess your injuries. Their assessment will help determine the amount of financial compensation you are likely to receive solely for your personal injuries.
