What happens when I see a car wreck lawyer?

A car wreck lawyer can help you in many different ways if you are not responsible for the accident and want to make a compensation claim. When you first see a car wreck lawyer about making a claim, they will determine the chances that your case will be successful and an estimate of the compensation amount.

A good solicitor will also make sure that you aware of the legal process involved in taking your claim to a further stage and there may be a lot of information to take in so feel free to take notes. You do not want to be caught unawares by any processes or details that you have forgotten. The car wreck lawyer can summarise the information in a letter if you ask them.

Once you have received all the information and decided to take your claim further, the solicitor will send a letter to the defendant who you are making a claim against. It will detail the extent of your injury and how you received them. With specific mentions on how the defendant is responsible for your injuries due to negligence. Supporting evidence may also be provided from experts such as a doctor or a specialist that is relevant to your specific injuries.

The defendant who you are claiming is to blame for the accident will then have to reply to the claim letter within a certain time period, usually this period is three months. In the reply letter, they will state if they are willing to deny or accept responsibility for your injury. If the defendant decides to accept responsibility then it is a simple matter for your solicitor to negotiate a settlement amount for you outside of court.

If the settlement cannot be negotiated or the defendant does not accept liability for the accident and your injury then your car wreck lawyer will give you advice on if you should take further legal action. If the matter is taken to court then the case will be heard by a judge and will make a judgement that will determine if you will receive compensation or not.
