Victims of car crashes in London

Car crashes are, unfortunately, rather common – with excessive speed being a major cause of many. There is some thought, that the safer a driver feels inside of their vehicle then the faster and more reckless they are likely to drive.

This phenomenon is known as the Peltzman Effect –

“The Peltzman Effect is the hypothesized tendency of people to react to a safety regulation by increasing other risky behavior, offsetting some or all of the benefit of the regulation”

Named after Dr. Sam Peltzman, a renowned professor of economics.

There does seem to be some real world evidence of this too, with people seemingly feeling so safe and comfortable within their cars that they text, conduct phone calls, apply makeup and even eat breakfast whilst driving.

With all of this happening, every single day, the only wonder is that there are not even more car crashes in London – and elsewhere.

    Is there a solution?

Stiffer penalties don’t seem to be working, neither do higher insurance premiums. Perhaps these things are not ‘tangible’ enough to be taken seriously, and to affect driver behaviour.

If that is the case, then it would seem that the only thing that could change the dangerous driving habits of some drivers is a potentially life altering collision of some kind?

That, however, is a little extreme for any driving school. If somebody is under the spell of the Peltzman effect, and you are harmed because of it, should you just have to suffer in silence with your injuries? Regardless of what happens to the driver, forget that they end up with large fines and possibly jail time. What happens to you in the wake of their stupidity?

You may well end up with life altering injuries, the kind of injuries that prevent you going to work or socialising with friends, going for walks – even to the corner shop for a pint of milk. Why should you suffer through all of that with no recompense?

You shouldn’t, and that’s why you should give Accident Advice Helpline a call, today. Any victims of car crashes in London, or anywhere else, should contact us for help in making a personal injury compensation claim.

Whilst any compensation award cannot take away or soothe the pain and turmoil that you have been subjected to, it can at least help pay for medical bills and other out of pocket expenses.

If you were forced to quit work, then your award would reflect your loss of earnings too.

Call us today free on 0800 689 0500 or 0333 500 0993 from a mobile phone, and let us get you what you deserve.
