    Car Accident in Sevenoaks

A car accident in Sevenoaks can be caused by vehicles travelling at excessive speeds

The town of Sevenoaks is found in the county of Kent in England and there have been calls by residents of the town to reduce the speed limit on Dartford Road as they believe that there will be a serious car accident in Sevenoaks if this does not happen.

A petition has been created by the group of residents and it aks the local council to review the current speed limit on the section of Dartford Road located between Farningham Road station and the Farningham roundabout. Part of the reasoning for the speed limit reduction is that the roads that surround this section of Dartford Road have speed limits of either 30 or 40 miles per hour. In addition, this road is home to many families who have young children and elderly people who often cross this section of the road. The residents are forced to cross the road as the closest pedestrian crossing they can use is located over a mile away towards the Farningham Road station.

The petition for the speed limit reduction has gained over 150 signatures in just under a month and it will be presented to the Sutton-at-Hone and Hawley councillor, Patrick Coleman, who will then present it to the Kent County Council. Councillor Coleman has indicated his support for the speed limit reduction and will also pass copies of the petition on to members of parliament.

A representative from the Kent County Council has responded to the calls for the speed limit to be reduced on Dartford Road by saying that any decisions that are made regarding road and safety has to be one that will reduce road accidents and casualties and needs to be fully supported by the community. The spokesman has said that any requests like this one will be reviewed within 20 working days.

According to the residents group which created the petition, there have been a total of 17 car accidents with an associated 32 casualties on the relevant section of Dartford Road since the year 2005.
