"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

Unfortunately, there are many people driving around today with no insurance cover, which apart from being illegal can cause problems if they are the cause of an accident. Under normal circumstances you would be able to claim against their insurance policy for damage to the car, and more importantly for any injuries sustained by people in your car. For an innocent victim of a car accident no insurance does not necessarily mean no compensation, however, as the Motor Insurers Bureau will step in and compensate victims if you make a claim.

The car accident no insurance process

In cases such as this, our solicitors would simply make a claim through the Motor Insurers Bureau instead of claiming against the guilty party’s car insurance policy. We have a large team of in-house lawyers who all specialise in claiming personal injury compensation following car accidents.

If the person who has caused the accident does not have valid car insurance and did not remain at the scene of the accident, there is a chance that they might not be traceable. In this case, the claim would again be made through the Motor Insurers Bureau, and your solicitor would be able to put together a case for submission to them.

Some people who have been caught without car insurance have said that the reason they did not buy it was that it was too expensive, and they could not afford it. It can be seen to be a ‘catch-22’ situation, however, as the more people that do not have insurance policies and then have an accident, the more insurance goes up for everyone. To cause a car accident no insurance would be devastating for many people, without the presence of the Motor Insurers Bureau to offer compensation to innocent victims.

When we deal with these types of claim, our solicitors gather all reports and medical assessments together, formulate a case, and then submit it to the Motor Insurers Bureau. There is no cost to you in starting a claim for compensation, whether under normal circumstances or for a car accident no insurance claim. This is because we work on a basis of no-win, no-fee*, so if your claim is not successful there are no lawyers legal fees to pay.
