If you are unfortunate enough to have been diagnosed with an injury or illness as a consequence of another person’s negligence, you can file a personal injury compensation claim. The term “personal injury” describes a wide range of injuries and illnesses, from broken bones and burns to post-traumatic stress disorder and asbestos-related lung diseases.
As with all compensation claims, you will need to prove that your illness or injury directly resulted in the negligence of another party.
Types of personal injury claims
At Accident Advice Helpline, our specialist teams of personal injury solicitors possess the knowledge and skills necessary to deal with even the most complex of award claims. Some examples of the personal injury claims we are able to help you with include:
• Road traffic accidents
• Accidents in the workplace
• Illnesses contracted as a result of your working conditions
• Faulty products
• Accidents in public places
• Hazards in the environment
If your personal injury does not fall under any of these categories, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss your case in more detail.
Starting personal injury award claims
To determine whether you have a valid personal injury claim, phone our helpline or use our 30-second test and receive accurate claims advice from our team of professional advisers. You should start your claim within 3 years of the date of your accident. However, the court may show some discretion outside these limits in some circumstances.
To support your award claims, you must present your solicitor with the contact details of the person or company responsible for your accident and those of any witnesses. If you wish to claim expenses, such as prescription charges and travel expenses, you must have retained your receipts. If you lack evidence to support your claim, do not worry. Your personal injury compensation solicitor will be able to provide you with expert assistance with regards to gathering evidence and presenting it to the guilty party.
Since every personal injury compensation claim is unique, the time taken to settle your claim cannot be predicted with the greatest of accuracy. We aim to settle the majority of our claims via telephone, but in some instances, you may have to attend court. Whether your case is settled over the phone or in court, our solicitors will endeavour to obtain the highest possible level of personal injury compensation.
For as much information as you need about award claims, call and have a chat to our friendly advisors today. You get speak to them on either of our helpline numbers – 0800 689 0500 from a landline, or 0333 500 0993 from a mobile.
