Accidents on the road in Tonbridge and Malling

Accidents on the road in Tonbridge and Malling could mean compensation for you

Tonbridge and Malling is a local government district in Kent. If you live there and are always looking for new books to get your child reading, you might want to try to get your hands on a copy of ‘Robinson the Younger.’ It was written by Johann Heinriche Campe in 1779 and is a great adventure story for children over the age of eight who like exciting stories. The book borrows from Defoe’s ‘Robinson Crusoe’ but this does not affect its story telling at all for a young reader. In fact, it is probably a great way to get your child interested in reading Defoe.

    They run away

At the beginning of the story, Robinson, who lives in Hamburg, is spoiled and lazy. His parents have nicknamed him Krusoe. One day, his friend persuades him to run away to sea with him without notifying his parents. Robinson and the friend board a ship and sail away. However, the ship meets difficulties and is wrecked. Robinson is the only survivor and finds himself stranded on a desert island.

As Robinson has lots of time to himself; he goes on a voyage of self-discovery and reflection. He soon realizes that he has never learned to do anything properly and acknowledges that he is indeed lazy. He also recognizes that he has not treated his parents very nicely. Once, he gets over what a horror bag he has been, he pulls himself together and learns skills which he needs to survive. He finds food, builds a house and lights a fire.

At this point, Robinson finds a friendly native called Friday and they enjoy a series of adventures together. Soon a ship appears and takes them back to Hamburg where they both work as carpenters. The story offers young readers an exciting adventure but also an important message as they experience Robinson’s character development and although it was written a long time ago, it would still appeal to young readers today.

If you go in search of children’s books about being stranded on a desert island but you get stranded in hospital because a van collides into you through no fault of your own, you may be able to claim compensation for personal injuries relating to accidents on the road in Tonbridge and Malling. You should telephone the Accident Advice Helpline to find out more.
