Accident solicitor in the Isle of Mull

If you live on the Isle of Mull, are you looking for an accident solicitor in the Isle of Mull, because of an accident in which you were injured, through no fault of your own, or perhaps you have just been diagnosed with a work-related illness? You may work on a farm or in the aqua-farming industry and have been injured, or perhaps you are looking for an accident solicitor in the Isle of Mull because of a fatal injury incurred by a close relative. If so, Accident Advice Helpline is here to help you.

    Agricultural accidents

Some people think that if you are an agricultural worker then you have a healthy lifestyle, but agriculture has one of the worst fatal accident records of the field of employment. Not only that, but it also has one of the worst records of work-related illnesses. Fewer than 1.5% of workers are employed in the agricultural sector, but 15 to 20% of fatal injuries which occur in the workplace every year are in the agricultural sector. The Health and Safety Executive’s figures show that in an average year, 49 agricultural workers die of fatal injuries sustained while at work.

Common accidents on a farm are those involving farm machinery and farm vehicles. Vibration White Finger (VWF) is a common work-related injury caused by using high-powered drills and other tools. Handling pesticides can also pose health problems as can working in an environment where grains or hay are stored; the organic dust from these can cause what is known as “Farmer’s Lung.”

Slips, trips and falls are the most common types of accident, as they can occur anywhere. People fall from heights, from unstable roofs and trees on farms, and injuries sustained in such an accident can be severe or fatal. Working with livestock can be dangerous, and the public can also be injured or killed if they are walking through farmland where there are animals.

The Health and Safety Executive believe that there is resistance to the officialdom farmers perceive in the Health and Safety regulations which cover farms, and they may pay little notice to them. Failure to implement the rules laid down in the regulations may be the reason for there being so many accidents in the sector.
