    Accident Solicitor in Hull

Hull, in what was the East Riding of Yorkshire is formally called Kingston upon Hull. The town was founded in the 12th century by the monks from Meaux Abbey because of their need for a port through which they could export their wool. The quay was built at the place where the River Hull joins the Humber. In 1299 Edward I granted a market charter to the town which had fallen into his control. At that time the town was renamed King’s town (or Kingston) upon Hull. The port continued to prosper and in the 18th century it was one of the whaling centres. Fishermen from Hull ventured far afield and the fishing industry grew apace.

    Accidents on fishing boats

Fishing can be dangerous as sometimes large marlin and whales can capsize boats. In one incident off the coast of Panama in early 2013 a boat capsized after the captain slipped and hit the throttle which made the boat lurch backwards so that it took on water. Luckily no one was injured in the accident, and the marlin got away. Other accidents can result in injuries and loss of life, and if you are injured in an accident on a ship or boat then you only have two years in which to make a personal injury compensation claim when you return to the UK.
