Am I eligible to make a claim?

If you have been injured in an accident in the UK, you usually have a period of three years in which to make your claim. However, the limitation period is shorter for some types of accident, so call Accident Advice Helpline to find out if you are still within the time limit.

You have to be able to prove that you were not responsible for the accident and also that another person was to blame for it. You should have received medical attention as soon as was practicable after the accident, and your medical report will be needed. If the police were called to the scene of the accident, you will also need their accident report.

If you wish to make a claim for an illness or disease, you must be able to prove that it was caused by another person’s negligence.
