All over Wales people are being injured in accidents that were not their fault. We’re taught from a young age that accidents happen, and while that’s fine when you’re a child falling off your bike, it’s not when you’re injured as a result of someone else’s actions and that’s why the legislation allowing people to make accident and injury claims in Cardiff has been met with such praise.
Just because “accidents happen” doesn’t mean that we should shrug them off. If we’re doing all we can to prevent them from happening and someone else comes along and performs an action that leaves us with any kind of injury then the decision over whether or not to pursue accident and injury claims in Cardiff almost becomes a no-brainer.
Innocent motorists, for example, head out onto the roads every day to go to work or into town, maybe even just down the road to the supermarket to collect a bottle of milk and some fresh bread. When they do so, they put on their seat belt, drive according to the speed limits and leave a comfortable gap to the vehicle in front.
If another road user approaches a junction on that route and decides that they are going to pull straight out onto the road and into the side of us, leaving us with significant injuries and a badly damaged car, then it can be a traumatic experience.
The repercussions could be long lasting with a lengthy spell in hospital and then regular check-ups and spells of physiotherapy needed to get us back to full health. This also means time off work and a loss of earnings and in a lot of instances the compensation money that we’re entitled to claim for is used to cover the lost wages and essential bills while we get back on our feet.
It isn’t just drivers and road users who are entitled to claim though. If you’ve suffered a slip, trip or fall as a result of poor warnings or a failure to repair the surface; or you’ve been injured in the workplace then you too could be entitled to make a compensation claim.
