Regulation of Accident Claims in the UK
If you have had an accident or suffered an injury that was not your fault, you may begin researching how you can make a claim to compensate for the costs incurred as a result, such as loss of earnings, medical costs and the cost of care.
There are many ways in which you can do this in the UK, with companies such as Accident Advice Helpline offering expert help on a no win, no fee* basis. All good companies should be a member of the Claims Standards Council, ensuring accident claims in the UK are monitored fairly.
What about no win, no fee*?
In 1998, legal aid was withdrawn for personal injury cases and the conditional fee agreement was introduced instead – widely known as no win, no fee*. Accident Advice Helpline was set up in response to these measures in 2000, matching people who had suffered an injury that was not their fault to specialist legal advice, dependent on their specific circumstances.
Accident Advice Helpline exists to gain people the compensation they are entitled to whilst following the no win, no fee* process for accident claims in the UK. Endorsed by renowned consumer rights champion Esther Rantzen, they are recognised as one of the UK’s top law firms and can help as long as your accident was not your fault and occurred within the past three years.

These tools will also give you an idea of how much you may be entitled to.
Once you have confirmed you are eligible to make a claim, you can call and talk to specialist advisors who will be able to set your claim in motion. What are the next steps?
Most claims can be processed by telephone, though as the claimant you may need to attend one additional medical assessment. Your claim can be for the injury you have incurred, as well as any resulting expenses – so we recommend you keep your receipts. Most claimants are not required to attend court and claim time varies from case to case.
