"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

    Accident and injury claim insurance

Personal injuries and accidents do happen. Whether a road traffic accident, an injury incurred at work or a slip, trip or fall, many people every year will suffer a personal injury. For a great deal of these, the injury will have occurred through no fault of their own. Accident and injury claim insurance is therefore an important type of insurance, giving you assurance that whether the accident was your fault or not, you will be covered.

Types of accident and injury claim insurance

Accident and injury claim insurance is included in the insurance packages that certain people and bodies need to have by UK law. For example, your employer’s indemnity insurance will cover the company for any claims against them due to accidents at work. A public authority such as a town council will have public liability insurance to cover claims such as slips on broken pavement or accidents that occur at a council-run venue.

Likewise, to drive a car in the UK you must have valid car insurance. So if an accident occurs that was your fault, dependent on your accident claim insurance level and excess, your insurance company will cover the costs incurred. Individual insurance policies vary, and we would recommend you read the fine-print to double check the terms of your particular policy.

    Making a claim

If you have incurred a personal injury that fulfils the general criteria below, you may be entitled to make a claim:

    • The accident was someone else’s fault
    • It happened within the past three years
    • You have received medical attention as a result of your injuries

Accident Advice Helpline’s 30 second calculator is a quick and easy way to assess your eligibility to claim. It will also provide you with an estimation of the compensation amount you may be able to expect, based on your answers to a few simple questions. As it is an online tool, you can fill it out at any time of day, and then a member of our highly trained advisory team will be in touch to progress the claims process.
