"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

After a work-related injury, who pays compensation?

If you suffer a work-related injury, who pays you compensation if indeed you are due to receive any? It is common to have lots of questions running through your mind at a time like this. You may be worried about how to proceed against your employer, even if you are sure they were to blame for your accident. This is perfectly understandable.

So, what do you do? Can you be sure you would win compensation if you did bring a claim against your employer? Can you be sure your job would not be at risk if you did so? Many people have lots of questions about this situation, and they may worry about the likelihood of winning any compensation claim.

With your work-related injury, who pays?

If your employer was negligent in some way, and that negligence led to the injury being sustained by you (or injuries, if you suffered more than one), you have a good chance of seeking compensation successfully.

All employers should have insurance that covers them for such eventualities. If they are successfully sued for compensation following an accident that leads to injuries for one or more workers, their insurance will cover any payouts that end up being awarded to the injured people. It’s also wise to remember your job will not be at risk for making a claim – the law ensures you cannot be sacked.
