"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

    Water damage accident counselling

If you are suffering from the psychological trauma of a water damage accident you may need water damage accident counselling.

The conditions in a water-damaged building can cause long-term health problems. Water damage may also affect the structural integrity of the building, possibly causing a serious accident. If you have suffered physically in any way due to water damage, you may be entitled to make a personal injury claim. However, there may also be serious emotional and psychological problems stemming from your injury, which could also result in further expense for you.

    The symptoms

Following an accident you may find yourself experiencing anxiety attacks, flashbacks, nightmares, insomnia and extreme fatigue. Some of your symptoms may be physical, such as breathlessness, sweating and a fast or unusually strong heartbeat. If your illness or accident has long-term or life-changing consequences, you may feel very angry or sad about the impact on your life.

    What to do

If you suffer any of these symptoms you should consult your doctor who may refer you for water damage accident counselling. This is available on the NHS, but there are often long waiting lists. You may opt to wait, but during this time the psychological impact of the accident will continue to affect your life. Consulting a private counsellor will mean you get immediate help. However, this may be very expensive; especially as several sessions may be needed to help you work through your trauma.

How Accident Advice Helpline can help

We recommend that if there is a waiting list for a NHS counsellor you do not delay in seeking treatment. Keep receipts for any private counselling you receive and then contact us. If we are already helping you with a personal injury claim as a result of your physical injuries, then make sure you update your solicitor about your need for counselling. If you are not already making a claim with us, call our free 24-hour helpline today. Our trained advisors will be able to discuss your case and let you know if you are entitled to compensation. If the water damage accident was not your fault and you have a medically recognised need for counselling, your solicitor should be able to claim back the costs as part of your compensation package.
