A gym is a place to go to in order to get fit and healthy. With that in mind, the very last thing you would want to experience as the result of a visit to a gym would be an injury of some description. The good news is few people go through this experience. However, if you’ve tripped on a gym hazard you’ll understand there are hazards around that could potentially cause issues.
A gym is typically filled with various pieces of exercise equipment. These must be safe to use, but they should also be set out in ways that mean you never have an opportunity to trip over them. There should be ample room between them, and no section of the equipment should be sticking out into an aisle, where it could cause someone to trip.
What kinds of injuries might occur?
This would depend on whether your foot caught the brunt of the impact, or whether you actually ended up falling over if you tripped on a gym hazard. If you did this, you could hit your head on something nearby, and you might hurt your hands, knees or elbows, depending on how you fell.
As you can see, there is the prospect of all kinds of things potentially happening. While most incidents of this nature are very minor, you might still incur an injury that is very uncomfortable and painful. When this happens, you may find you can’t do the things you normally would, simply because you are injured.
Taking the right steps
If you’ve tripped on a gym hazard and it happened in the past three years, it is worth finding out more. The idea of making a claim to seek compensation may feel odd to you, but in reality gyms will have public liability insurance to deal with such claims should they ever arise.
Accident Advice Helpline has a vast amount of experience in dealing with claims of this nature. As such, if you’ve tripped and injured yourself, you can find out from our advisors whether a no win, no fee claim might work. Call 0800 689 0500 or see what our online test says when you take less than one minute to complete it. From that point on, we can see whether we really would be able to help you in making a claim of this sort.
