At Accident Advice Helpline our staff are on hand to help if you are seeking reliable tractor accident advice. Whether you have been hurt in a sudden accident or have suffered long-term health problems caused by exposure to vibration, we can give you the practical assistance you need.
We operate a free 24-hour helpline, so you can call whenever it is convenient. We cannot help you if you were injured due to your own carelessness, but if the accident was someone else’s fault, if you received medical attention soon afterwards and if it happened within the last three years, the chances are you will be able to make a successful claim. The time limit works differently if the individual concerned is under 18 years of age and it can sometimes be extended in cases where injuries take many months to develop.
Types of tractor accident
The tractor accidents we deal with can mostly be divided into two groups; crashes, falls and crushing incidents resulting in injuries that are visible immediately or within several hours or days and long-term exposure to vibration, resulting in injuries that develop slowly.
If you have suffered the first type of injury you can strengthen your case by taking pictures of the injury site and of the tractor and by collecting contact details from anyone who witnessed the incident. If you have suffered the second type of injury, you should see a doctor as soon as you recognise the symptoms. To win compensation in this type of case, you will need to show that you were using the tractor on someone else’s instructions. If you understood the risk, but felt you did not have a choice because you were worried about losing your job, you may still have grounds for making a claim.
The claims process
If you decide to proceed, Accident Advice Helpline will allocate you a solicitor who is familiar with agricultural issues and understands the type of injury you have suffered. We handle all our cases on a no win no fee* basis, so there is no need to worry about having to pay expensive legal fees up front. It is also unlikely that you will have to travel to meetings with your solicitor, as in most cases we can arrange for all the necessary communication to be carried out over the phone. As with our phone team, the solicitors we employ are used to dealing with accident victims, are very sympathetic and recognise that travelling long distances may be difficult for you.
What compensation means
If you are successful in claiming compensation, you will receive a sum of money to cover damages in addition to a further sum to cover the cost of any special needs you may require. If you have been left with serious mobility issues, for example, you could receive funds to pay for a stair lift or for a special seat to help you in and out of the bath. If you have lost all your confidence and find it hard to cope with day to day stresses, you could receive funds to pay for counselling. Compensation is there to help you get back to living life on your own terms.
