Tips for knee injury prevention at work

Work injuries are incredibly rare nowadays. If employers take all the necessary steps to follow health and safety laws and to keep their employees free from harm (which they most often do), there is no reason anyone should suffer an injury at work. Here, we’ll look at knee injury prevention so employees can work in safety without suffering this type of injury at all.

Some knee injuries are more common in everyday life than others. For example, if we fall over, we might have a good chance of falling onto our knees and cutting, bruising or otherwise injuring them in another manner. However, jumping or lifting can also lead to knee injuries. Falls should be prevented by putting proper safety measures into place. Furthermore, no jumping should ever be required, and proper lifting training should be given so people learn how to protect their knees.

    Are all knee injuries sudden?

No – some injuries can occur by doing the wrong thing continually over time. It’s easy to think of accidents occurring that cause injury to the knees because of a slip, trip or fall. While these are potentially possible, it is also possible you could suffer an injury over time because you did not perform a task correctly.

For instance, if you are not given manual handling training, and you don’t have the right equipment to lift safely, you could put undue strain on your knee every time you lift incorrectly. Over time, this could lead to significant problems and the need for treatment to your knee.

The best solution is always knee injury prevention

The best idea is to avoid damaging your knee in the first place. This is what knee injury prevention is all about. However, if you have been unlucky enough to suffer a knee injury at work already, it might be worth speaking to someone at Accident Advice Helpline. We’ve already helped people be awarded compensation following work-based knee injuries that could have been avoided.
