"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

The BSC International Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health

Those who have any responsibility for health and safety in the workplace can undertake the International Certificate for Occupational Safety and Health offered by the British Safety Council. The application of basic health and safety can go a long way to preventing injuries, illness and workplace accidents therefore, it is important that everyone is trained in how to apply health and safety to everyday situations to some degree. This course teaches attendees hazard awareness, risk assessment and fire risk assessment as well as many other aspects of safety. The Occupational Safety and Health course is divided into two easily digestible sections, the first teaching the principles of health and safety management and the second teaching attendees how to control hazards in the workplace. All who attend this course will come away with an internationally recognised qualification. This course is applicable in all industries but is particularly important for those in the construction industry due to the number of potential hazards on-site. The potential for accidents to happen is lowered by taking a course of this nature but, unfortunately, injuries can still be sustained.

What kind of potential injuries could I sustain?

Falls from height can cause severe injuries to the head, back and limbs so personal protective equipment is of great importance in the construction industry. Slips, trips and falls can occur in any workplace but can be more hazardous in a place where there are sharp objects, dangerous equipment and large machines in operation. Even moving heavy objects can cause back injuries if manual handling training is not followed properly. Should you feel that someone did not follow their training or did not adequately train you causing you an injury, then you may be able to hold them liable. Where there is evidence of negligence you may be able to win a cash payout.
