    Survivor guide: Visiting the Maldives

When we think of escaping city life and relaxing on a beach, many of us will dream of the turquoise waters and sandy beaches of the Maldives. However, what happens if you are unfortunate enough to suffer from an accident in that island paradise?

You could be entitled to personal injury compensation if you have an accident on holiday. For example, accidents could occur from sports-related injuries such as water-skiing or journeys on a banana boat. Activities such as paragliding or jet skiing are also instances in which accidents and personal injury could happen.

Equally, if you suffered from food poisoning from your hotel restaurant, and had to miss a few days of your holiday due to illness, then you could qualify for travel accident compensation.

How do I reduce my risk of suffering an accident in the Maldives?

    • If taking part in sports related activities, then ensure that you have been told of the risks that could occur. Always wear safety equipment given to you; especially life jackets if taking part in water based activities.
    • If you are hiring a car make sure you know the driving laws applicable in the Maldives.
    • If you are drinking alcohol on holiday in the Maldives be aware of your personal limitations.
